What is Accreditation?
SII operates a system of accreditation - a formal, visible approval process that reassures clients and customers - of its keys suppliers who provide high quality training and products linked to SII qualifications and examinations, particularly those whose services will have an impact on the success of SII examinations in the industry. Accreditation by the SII provides formal recognition for:
- Accredited Training Providers - companies, colleges of further education & international training partners
- Individual trainers
- Workbooks and e-learning

Train the Trainer
In the case of training centres that do not have a history of successfully preparing candidates for SII examinations, the Institute normally requires potential training staff to have training from a nominee of the Institute.
Accreditation company in-house training programmes and Continuing Professional Development schemes
Since 2005, company schemes can be accredited to provide staff with access to SII membership without necessarily taking SII examinations. SII will also provide registration for company CPD schemes by the end of 2005 for which details will appear on these pages.
In addition, SII can offer accreditation to organisations that offer public training of interest to our membership that complements, but does not compete with, that offered by the Securities & Investment Institute.
Workbook Accreditation
To complement the Securities & Investment Institute’s Accreditation Process, accredited training providers are invited to submit their workbooks to be approved.
This process ensures that the workbooks are correct in both standard and content, as they relate to the appropriate SII examination syllabus.
Each workbook needs to be reviewed in detail to ensure that it meets the mandatory requirements. These are:
· Accuracy of content
· Currency of content
· Appropriate technical content
· Appropriate level
The report may also make recommendations on the design and format of the workbook.
Each workbook is approved for the duration of the syllabus to which it relates. The Institute liaises closely with Training Providers regarding any updating that is needed following syllabus review. Approved workbooks are made available to SII examination item writers as a resource and in addition will be permitted to display the SII logo to demonstrate that the workbooks correspond to the examination syllabus and level.
