Aims of the Qualification

The Advanced Certificate programme has been developed to offer staff a range of post benchmark qualifications. Although created primarily for the Operations area, the first Advanced Certificate – the Advanced Certificate in Operational Risk – will appeal to staff regardless of their industry sector as it enables staff to understand the risks firms face and the means to mitigate them.

The SII has developed two further Advanced Certificates which will be of practical interest to staff in the Operations area – Advanced Global Securities Operations and Advanced Investment Schemes Administration.

The Advanced Certificates stand on their own but candidates can also use them as an entry to the Diploma in Investment Operations. The aim of the Advanced Certificates and the Diploma in Investment Operations is to make available to staff and their firms, a career pathway that is on a par with the senior qualifications available to sales staff. Candidate Update

The Securities & Investment Institute is dedicated to keeping candidates up-to-date with changes within the financial services industry in areas relating to Institute examinations and workbooks.

The Institute’s new, free of charge, Candidate Update area will provide a central resource for the latest industry developments and exam changes as they relate to each SII exam and workbook and will keep candidates and those working in the industry updated. This will provide greater clarity on instances where a 'significant' industry change impacts on a syllabus that SII is not in a position to reflect immediately in the workbook or the exam. Each workbook/exam has its own link which details the latest changes and how they affect your study.
