The aim of the Certificate in Investment Management is to ensure that individuals develop a good understanding of the foundations of investment management: accounting, economics and financial mathematics, as well as of the various asset classes and the financial markets so that they can apply these subjects to the fundamentals of investment management - investment analysis, portfolio management and performance measurement.

The Certificate in Investment Management includes:

Investment Management
A 2 hour paper consisting of 100 multiple-choice questions
FSA Financial Regulation OR Principles of Financial Regulation
Both 1 hour papers consisting of 50 multiple choice questions

Key Features - Investment Management

Coverage of the regulatory framework and of the subjects underpinning investment management: economics, financial mathematics and statistics, accounting, taxation & trusts, a grounding in securities and derivatives as well as in-depth coverage of the core subjects of investment analysis, portfolio management, financial markets and performance measurement.
A practical examination, which includes accounts, graphs and charts.

MiFID Compliance mifid As a result of MiFID, firms may find that a number of their clients, which they treat as wholesale clients, seek reclassification as retail clients, to gain the additional protections to which retail clients are entitled. Employers advising retail clients must obtain the retail version of the qualification. SII has adapted all regulatory examinations to ensure they are MiFID compliant.

Additional Exam Information

Entry requirements
There are no formal prerequisites for the Certificate in Investment Management. Experience in the industry will help candidates relate what they are learning to the job they are doing but it is not a requirement of taking the qualification. Examination entries are accepted from private individuals as well as via an employer.
