For all exam entries, when an exam entry is received, the application and payment details are checked and programmed onto the database to register the exam entry and produce an acknowledgement letter.
The acknowledgement letter is issued to the candidate together with a copy of the Examination Regulations and a map of the venue. Where the employer paid the exam fee, a copy of the letter is sent to the firm. The letter confirms:
- The Candidate number (used for all exams taken by the candidate)
- Chosen examination
- The exam date/time/venue
- Materials to bring to the exam, such as personal identification
Applications received close to the examination entries deadline may be initially acknowledged by telephone and candidates informed of these details.
Where a regional centre attracts a low entry which does not make the holding of an exam viable, candidates will be contacted to discuss alternative arrangements, e.g. sitting at another centre or another session.
Candidates who have not received confirmation of their entry one week before the exam, should contact the Customer Operations Team: 020 7645 0680.
Important: Candidates who have not correctly entered for an exam should not go to an examination centre in the hope that they will be allowed to sit, as they will not be admitted to the exam hall. Maps of the UK examination venues are available on this site.
Candidates who do not have acceptable identification (per the examination regulations) will not be allowed to sit the examination.
In-house examinations on public exam dates
For UK in-house examinations for the IAQ™/IAC™/Certificates, firms should contact customerops@sii.org.uk
eight weeks before the exam date. Such requests are subject to an agreed minimum number of candidates.
Students requiring special facilities (e.g. wheelchair access) must contact customerops@sii.org.uk in writing as far in advance as possible and at least two weeks prior to the exam entry closing date.
Overseas venues (Diploma/IAQ™/IAC™)
For venues outside the UK, Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, a written request must be sent to mclarke@sii.org.uk eight weeks prior to the exam to be sat. Once a venue is identified, details and costs will be sent to the candidate. If the terms and conditions are acceptable, the venue will be set up after receipt of the completed application form. All local invigilation costs and courier fees must be met by the candidate. Examinations held overseas must take place simultaneously to the exam session in the UK. Candidates in the Far East who want to sit the Diploma should check timings with mclarke@sii.org.uk
All overseas exams will be subject to an additional £20 admin and airway fee on top of the cost of the exam
IAQ™/IAC™
The Institute will not accept requests for free transfers or withdrawals of examination entries except in the case of sickness (where a medical certificate must be provided) or bereavement (where the request must be made in writing)
Diploma
Candidates may transfer ONCE to the next sitting. Requests should be received in writing before the first UK closing dates for entries.
Candidates may withdraw from an examination and under certain circumstances fees will be refunded less an administration charge. Requests must be made in writing before the second and final UK closing date.
After the latest closing date, transfer and withdrawals will only be considered for medical reasons (supported by a medical certificate) or a bereavement.
