CBT Cmopared to Paper and Pencil Exams

With CBT, candidates answer all questions on screen using simple mouse-click navigation. There are no exam papers – answers are selected from the same screen on which the question appears.

The technology we are adopting is well-established and extremely reliable, and has been used to conduct several million tests already. It uses a dedicated private network so that it does not suffer from either the security or speed issues experienced on the public internet.

The number of questions and time allowed to answer live questions will remain the same. Trialling of new, unscored items will slightly increase the length of the test (see Question Trialling).

The questions will continue to be in a simple multiple-choice format (question + 4 options). Indeed the questions are drawn from our existing question banks and are carefully calibrated for consistency. The CBT tests are no more difficult or more easy than pen and paper – they are exactly the same.
