The Industry Update is a newssheet issued to candidates sitting the Institute's exam for retail advisers – the Investment & Financial Advice Qualification. The IFA Qualification is the replacement for the Investment Advice Certificate, which is being phased out over the course of 2005.

The newssheet reflects the breadth of the exam with coverage including snippets on regulatory change as well as industry developments. Much of the information is drawn from press reports and in many cases the newspaper issue date is identified so readers can check the original.
