160709 First ever international financial services CPD session for sharia scholars in Malaysia

The UK Islamic Finance Council (IFC), in association with the Securities & Investment Institute (SII) was delighted that its sharia scholar seminar programme was launched in Kuala Lumpar, Malaysia recently. It was hosted and co-organised by ISRA, the Islamic research academy arm of the world renowned global university in Islamic Finance, INCEIF.

Dr Mohammad Akram Laldin, executive director of ISRA said: “As the global heart of Islamic thought leadership, we were delighted to host an event enabling scholars to learn more about some of the conventional finance instruments. Enhancing learning between experts is a vital means by which we can further develop the profession and assist the development of Islamic finance globally. “

Ruth Martin, SII managing director said: “We are pleased to support the Islamic Finance Council's initiative to raise understanding amongst scholars globally and we look forward to further developing our relationships with colleagues in Malaysia.”

IFC chairman Tariq Masood said: "The IFC scholar development programme is a vital initiative to empower sharia scholars and raise standards within the sharia assurance process. It is with great delight that, within a year, the programme has successfully held its first international session in Malaysia hosted by ISRA. This reflects the importance of the project for the global Islamic finance industry and we look forward to welcoming other international hubs to partake in this exclusive programme"
